Description
The Civico Museo del Sigillo was born in 2000 following the donation, by the spouses Lilian and Euro Capellini, of the most complete spragistic collection that has ever been brought together by private individuals.
The collection, the result of thirty years of field research supported by collaborations with the most famous auction houses, made use of contacts with leading experts in the sector who edited the publications of the specific catalogs. The relations with the Vatican Secret Archives, with the Archives of the Forbidden City of Beijing and with the Lalique maison of Paris have made it possible to select the material by creating, in the opinion of European, American and Asian experts in sealing, a unique exhibition in the its kind qualitatively and quantitatively.
In 2013 the collection was enriched by further donations made by the Fiocchi family, with sixty-one rare specimens collected by Maria Banfi Fiocchi, and by the Maulella family, with typographical matrices of local interest.
